The iOS 16 beta 5 has restored the iPhone battery percentage to the status bar.

Following the launch of the iPhone X, Apple has removed the battery percentage from the status bar of older iPhone models, but with the fifth beta release of iOS 16, the company has reinstated it. It’s noteworthy that this latest operating system comes with a plethora of fascinating features, but the battery percentage that returns back after five years is probably the most intriguing of them all. 

Apple stated that they were forced to remove the battery indicator from the status bar because of the notch’s coverage on display. As a result, the only way for users to check the current battery percentage is to scroll down the control panel and it quite inconvenient for users to have to slide down the panel every time they wanted to view the battery percentage

If you have iOS 16, go to Settings, then Battery, and turn ON the Battery Percentage. The battery percentage function appears to be available on the majority of iPhones with a notch, however it does not appear to be available on the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 11, or iPhone XR, possibly due to space limitations. Also, if you have an iPhone SE (any generation), iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone 8, this doesn’t apply to you because Apple never took battery percentage off of these devices.

Currently, iOS 16 beta 5 is only available to developers; a public beta will be released in the near future.
