The Android and iOS apps for 1Password are getting a significant update. Similar to how the 1Password 8 apps for Windows and Mac were recently updated, 1Password 8 completely overhauls the appearance of the mobile password management apps. A customizable home tab is a feature of the new mobile layout that should make it simpler to locate logins, save favorites, and arrange your passwords.

You can also quickly view logins you’ve recently established and even pin specific fields from a login on the new customizable homescreen. The navigation bar now offers quick access to search, home, and settings, and you may reorder sections and add quick actions to the home tab.

The current version of the 1Password mobile app splits the navigation bar into favorites, categories, tags, and settings, making search less visible. The entire design and navigation bar have been substantially simplified in 1Password 8, making it simpler for users who aren’t familiar with the mobile app to locate their logins. The upgraded app also features updated and better typography, login and vault detail views, and icons.

The mobile app for 1Password now features an improved Watchtower UI with notifications regarding data breaches inside items. Now that collections are accessible in the mobile app, 1Password users can design their own groups of vaults. Since autofill is quicker and more accurate, it should more accurately autofill credit cards, addresses, and IDs across apps when used with 1Password on mobile.

“Over the last couple years we’ve been making a concerted effort to unify our design language,” Michael Fey, 1Password’s Vice President of engineering for client apps, described this earlier this year. “The updated designs result in a modern take on 1Password that is both familiar and fresh.”

The advancements to mobile and desktop usability are especially crucial as 1Password strives to get more subscribers. 1Password today has over 100,000 paying business clients, and it saw subscription growth throughout the epidemic, which contributed to the company being valued at $6.8 billion earlier this year.

Meanwhile, 1Password has been assisting users in remembering which “sign in” service they used on websites and has made it simpler to exchange files, documents, and passwords with simply a link. All users now have the ability to hide their email addresses from apps and services thanks to the service’s addition of the “hide my email” feature last year.
