Here is how Crash Detection works in the Apple devices.

Apple has introduced Crash Detection features on iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro models, Apple Watch SE second generation, Apple Watch Series 8 and the Apple Watch Ultra. Some may ask how these features would work effectively helping those who are involved in severe car crash accidents and here is how.

In a brief note, Crash Detection will be able to detect a serious car crash via high dynamic gyroscope, accelerometer, GPS, barometer and microphone on your iPhone. With the data collected, the iPhone uses complex algorithms in order to detect whether a car crash has taken place.

The feature is able to detect multiple car accidents including front impacts, side impacts, rear-end collisions and rollovers. When a severe crash is detected, the screen will display an alert for a 10 second countdown, and if no one responds, it will automatically contact emergency services and send your location with latitude and longitude coordinates, as well as a suggested search radius.

After contacting the emergency service, your devices will send alerts to your emergency contacts afterwards. The Crash Detection feature will be enabled by default and prior setup is not required by users.
