Nothing Unleashed Phone (2a) Special Edition

Fans of Nothing’s Phone (2a), this is for you! Nothing has announced that there will be a Special Edition, which tells the story of colors. 

The brand’s essence revolves around transparency, from its design identity to its collaborative engagement with the Nothing community. The concept is to simplify elements to their fundamental, yet aesthetically pleasing, form. 

“We are very happy to unveil the Phone (2a) Special Edition. The first product to explore our palette of the primary colours; red, blue and yellow. Its overall aesthetic references some of our design heroes from the past, whilst creating a new expression for a smartphone. Elevating a functional device into a striking piece of art.” said Adam Bates, Design Director at Nothing.

Boosting Primary Colors 

The Phone (2a) Special Edition amplifies primary colors and their significance in Nothing’s brand identity. The new smartphone marks the first instance that all three colors have been used in one piece of Nothing hardware. 

Previously, the red was exclusively used in the right earbud across all Nothing audio products, yellow was introduced in the new Ear (a), and blue was recently unveiled in the Phone (2a) Blue edition. However, until now, these three colors had never coexisted in a single device.

Familiar but Better

The Special Edition features everything the Phone (2a) was praised for. It includes the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro processor, a fast and smooth Nothing OS, and a long-lasting 5,000 mAh battery. 

The device boasts a 6.7” flexible AMOLED display, an impressive dual 50 MP rear camera, and showcases Nothing’s unique design through its hardware and The Glyph Interface.

Since its launch, the Nothing software team has released 13 updates aimed at refining camera performance. These updates include optimizing color consistency in the primary wide-angle sensor, enhancing portrait brightness in HDR scenes, and improving the camera app’s opening performance. 

ChatGPT Integration

The Phone (2a) and its predecessors provide an industry-first ChatGPT integration when connected to any Nothing or CMF by Nothing audio product. Furthermore, new ChatGPT widgets have been introduced for convenient access directly from your smartphone’s home screen. 

Earlier this month, Nothing announced that Phone (2a) users can now access the Android 15 Developer Preview.
