Gamers, listen up! ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has officially unveiled the pricing and pre-order promotion for ROG Ally X, its latest model of the popular ROG Ally handheld game console! 

Invented for Windows 11 gaming on the go, the ROG Ally X equipped the same  AMD Ryzen™ Z1 Extreme processor. However, it doesn’t stop there—it also brings enhanced storage, upgraded RAM, and improved battery life, including its updated chassis ensures better ergonomics, superior cooling, and seamless connectivity.

Along with the Armoury Crate SE 1.5, featuring a customizable game library and unified system updates, the ROG Ally X is all set to #playALLYourgames better than ever!

Bigger storage, faster RAM, longer battery life

Driven by valuable user feedback, the ROG Ally X enhances several critical internal features. With an upgraded 1 TB SSD (compared to the original Ally’s 512 GB), gamers now have ample space for all their titles.  Additionally, the redesigned motherboard incorporates an M.2 2280 form factor slot, making storage upgrades to larger drives more convenient than ever before.

The ROG Ally X also features 24 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM for more flexibility. As contemporary games demand increasing VRAM for lifelike textures at high resolutions, having 24 GB of system memory enables users to allocate more resources to both the system and the GPU. This allocation translates to improved performance in upcoming AAA titles.

The ROG Ally X is equipped with 80 Wh battery, twice the capacity of its predecessor. Gamers can now enjoy extended playtime without being tethered to a power outlet. Despite the significant boost in battery life, the ROG Ally X only adds 70 grams to its weight compared to the original ROG Ally.

The extra weight is perfectly balanced where the gamer’s thumb and forefinger naturally grip the device. As a result, the ROG Ally X feels lighter than its 678 g weight suggests, ensuring both comfort during gameplay and easy portability.

Updated Controls, Connectivity

The new ROG Ally X features a revamped chassis, complete with subtly deeper handles and a curvier shape—designed specifically for enhanced comfort during extended gaming sessions. The buttons and sticks placement are adjusted for better ergonomics, including trigger buttons angled just right for effortless pressing. The macro buttons on the back are now smaller to prevent accidental presses while remaining easy to reach.

The joysticks are now more durable, rated for a 5-million-cycle lifespan, with stiffer springs that provide a response curve that feels familiar to longtime controller gamers. A slight improvement on the D-Pad as it is now offering precise eight-direction input for fighting and retro games.

Better connectivity is among the sought request by gamers so, the ROG Ally X now features two USB-C® ports – one of which is Thunderbolt™-compatible for wide interoperability with third-party docks and external GPUs.

Improved thermals all around

The ROG Ally X features new fans that are 23% smaller but using 50% thinner fan blades to improve airflow. This is to accommodate the new battery. This revamped thermal solution results in a 24% increase in air volume pushed through the device, cooling not only the internal components but also keeps the touch screen up to 6°C cooler, ensuring a more comfortable gaming experience!
