Twitter has introduced Twitter Circles, which allow you to share tweets with your close friends.

Similar to Instagram’s “Close Friends” function, Twitter has introduced ‘Twitter Circles’, a new feature that allows users to tweet to a chosen group of persons instead of their whole followers list.

On Instagram, users are not notified when someone is added or removed from their Close Friends list, and Close Friends stories are marked with a green ring. The feature became available in 2018. As a means of gaining access to exclusive content, some influencers have charged followers for entry to their close circle. Last year, Twitter unveiled its ‘Super Follows’ feature to enable certain prominent accounts to charge users for access. Earlier this year, Instagram began testing a similar membership service.

Since May, users have been able to share tweets privately with up to 150 accounts they have added to a custom group rather than publicly.

With Twitter Circle, people now have the flexibility to choose who can see and engage with their content on a Tweet-by-Tweet basis. This makes it easier to have more intimate conversations and build closer connections with select followers.

Twitter Circle has begun rolling out to iOS, Android, and web users.
