Samsung released the latest tiny update for the old Galaxy S6 series.

Previously, some older Galaxy devices, such as the Galaxy S7 from 2016 and the Galaxy S8 from 2017, experienced GPS issues, for which the company has released a patch. Now is the time for minor updates to the older Galaxy S6 series from 2015.

The Galaxy S6 series, which includes the standard Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 edge, and the Galaxy S6 edge+, has reportedly received a new minor update from Samsung. This update has reportedly been spotted in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The software versions for Dutch Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge acquired from Vodafone are G920FXXU6EVG1 and G925FXXU6EVG3, respectively. Nevertheless, the SIM-free Galaxy S6 and S6 edge+ are receiving the update in Belgium.

Normally, the rest of the Galaxy S6 models, including carrier and unlocked models, will receive the update in the coming days, and in other countries as well. In the meantime, the update is being rolled out, and if you haven’t received a notification, you can manually check for an update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and Install. After that, your phone will check for new updates on the official servers, and if a new update is detected,  it will notify you to install them on your device.

In fact, the update will only eat up 13MB of your storage space. Furthermore, unlike the previous update for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S7, the changelog does not mention the GPS fix. However, the changelog only mentions performance enhancements, bug fixes, and new and/or improved features. The update doesn’t change the security patch level or add a new version of Android, which makes sense.
