Beyond the Smartphone: Xiaomi’s Expanding AI Universe

When Xiaomi returned to Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC 2026), it didn’t just bring new gadgets. It brought an entire lifestyle blueprint powered by AI.

This year’s theme? “Human × Car × Home.” And no, it’s not just a slogan. It’s Xiaomi’s way of showing how artificial intelligence is stepping out of screens and quietly blending into everyday life.

AI That Moves Beyond the Screen

For years, AI has lived mostly inside apps, helping you write messages, edit photos, or answer questions. At MWC 2026, Xiaomi showed what happens when AI leaves the display and starts interacting with your physical world.

At the center of this shift is Xiaomi Miloco (Xiaomi Local Copilot), powered by Xiaomi’s self-developed foundation model, MiMo. Instead of simply controlling individual devices, Miloco works as a whole-home intelligence system.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • Lights automatically adjust depending on whether you’re watching TV, reading, or scrolling on your phone.
  • A robot vacuum gets prompted to clean when clutter is detected.
The temperature shifts based on your sleep state and comfort level.
  • Music changes to match your mood.
  • Lighting colors coordinate across rooms or even match the color of flowers in your space.

It’s less “if-this-then-that” automation and more conversational, context-aware intelligence. You talk naturally, and the system figures out the rest.

Privacy remains local, too. Xiaomi’s edge-cloud collaboration keeps sensitive data processed on-device.

One AI Layer Across Everything

Xiaomi is also expanding its HyperAI ecosystem, built in collaboration with Google Gemini. Instead of AI features living inside isolated apps, HyperAI works as a unified system across smartphones, vehicles, and smart home devices.

The goal:
One consistent intelligence layer that understands context whether you’re at home, on your phone, or in your car.

Smartphones Still Take Center Stage

Leading the device lineup is the Xiaomi 17 Series, including the newly introduced Xiaomi 17 Ultra for global markets.

The big highlight? Imaging.

Through Xiaomi’s upgraded partnership with Leica Camera, the 17 Ultra introduces:

  • A newly developed 1-inch LOFIC main camera sensor
  • The industry’s first Leica APO-certified optical telephoto zoom lens for mobile
  • Improved night photography and high-contrast detail accuracy

Also on display was the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi, designed directly with Leica’s design team. Inspired by the iconic Leica M-series cameras, it features a dual-tone back panel with leather texture and matte finishes leaning fully into its camera heritage aesthetic.

And then there’s something unexpected:
The Dynamic Back Display on the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. A secondary rear display supports personalized visuals, selfie previews using the main camera, and even rear-panel gaming. It’s Xiaomi experimenting with how AI interaction can extend beyond the front screen.

From Scooters to Supercars

Xiaomi’s ecosystem doesn’t stop at phones or homes.

In mobility, the spotlight shines on:

  • Xiaomi SU7 Ultra – reinforcing the company’s ambitions in intelligent transportation
  • Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo – a futuristic electric hypercar concept making its physical-world debut

Created for the legendary Gran Turismo franchise after an invitation from creator Kazunori Yamauchi, the Vision GT embraces Xiaomi’s “Sculpted by the Wind” design philosophy.

Expect:

  • A teardrop-shaped cockpit
  • Aerodynamic channel sculpting
  • Active Wake Control System
  • A halo-shaped taillight

Inside, the “Sofa Racer” concept blends comfort with intelligent features like Xiaomi Pulse, imagining a hypercar that still feels integrated into your digital life.

Smarter Homes, Globally

Xiaomi also showcased its full lineup of Mijia smart appliances; air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, now expanding across four major regions and 14 countries.

These aren’t just appliances anymore. They’re intelligent terminals connected to the same ecosystem, adapting to routines and coordinating across devices.

Manufacturing With Sustainability in Mind

Beyond products, Xiaomi highlighted its manufacturing infrastructure:

  • Smart Home Appliance Factory (Wuhan – Phase One operational)
  • Smartphone factory
  • EV super factory

Together, these form a fully integrated smart production system powered by automation, digitalization, and AI.

The company’s ESG progress includes:

  • MSCI ESG rating upgraded to “A”
  • Inclusion in Forbes’ 2025 China ESG 50 list
  • Fortune Global 500 ranking (297th in 2025)
