HONOR has released a sneak peek of photos taken with its forthcoming flagship smartphone, the HONOR Magic8 Pro, highlighting its capabilities in night photography. Images captured by mobile photography enthusiasts in Kuala Lumpur and Kuching showcase the device’s 200MP Ultra Night Telephoto Camera, which maintains exceptional photo detail and color accuracy even in low-light settings. The examples included clear, atmospheric shots of Kuala Lumpur’s illuminated city skyline and iconic landmarks.
Key Camera Innovations and Stability
The camera system on the HONOR Magic8 Pro marks a significant advancement, featuring the industry’s largest 200MP telephoto sensor combined with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor size and a wide f/2.6 aperture. This powerful combination is designed to capture intricate details over long distances while maximizing light intake.
A crucial feature is the integration of the industry’s most stable CIPA 5.5-level Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This technology minimizes handshake and motion blur, ensuring sharper results and stable previews, particularly when utilizing the 10x or 100x zoom functions. This performance in clarity and dynamic range across different low-light scenarios aims to set a new benchmark for mobile photography.
Perfected Night Portraits
Beyond general night scenes, the Magic8 Pro excels at night portraiture. It utilizes a 50MP Ultra Night Main Camera with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS, supported by advanced AI algorithms. Features like AI segmentation and intelligent lighting are used to accurately render natural skin tones, refined highlights, and produce stunning portraits with lifelike bokeh. Subjects remain sharp, vivid, and true to life even when photographed from a distance in low light.

Local freelance photographers Nazer Noor and Ahmad Baser were among the first in Malaysia to test the device and praised the performance of the 200MP Ultra Night Telephoto camera.
