realme C85 5G Sets a New Benchmark with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ in Water Resistance

realme has announced that its upcoming realme C85 5G has secured a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the “Most People Performing a Mobile Phone Water-Resistance Test Simultaneously”. The record was set on 20 November 2025 at the Cilandak Sports Center in Jakarta.

During the attempt, 280 participants lined up along a pool, each holding a realme C85. All devices were submerged together for two minutes before being retrieved. According to realme, every single unit powered on normally with no malfunctions, earning the brand official recognition from Guinness World Records.

For users in Malaysia—where sudden rain is a common issue—the takeaway is simple: more peace of mind from a budget-friendly device.

The main highlight of the C85 5G is its new IP69 Pro water-resistance rating. realme claims this standard goes beyond typical IP ratings—including IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66—by combining multiple layers of protection. The device is also rated to withstand 36 types of liquids, from chlorinated pool water to saltwater splashes and mild corrosive household spills.

In terms of durability, the phone has been tested for 30 minutes at 6 metres underwater, and up to 60 days at a depth of 0.5 metres. It remains operational across temperatures from 0°C to 85°C, and it also meets MIL-STD-810H certification, surviving drops from 2 metres onto hard surfaces.

realme says this milestone reflects its goal of bringing “flagship-grade durability” to more affordable devices. The world-record-holding realme C85 5G is expected to arrive in Malaysia soon.
