Nothing has officially announced the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro, representing a significant evolution in its smartphone lineup. These devices merge Nothing’s iconic transparent aesthetic with flagship-level performance, advanced periscope cameras, and the new AI-integrated Nothing OS 4.1. The series aims to redefine the mid-range market by offering premium engineering and expressive design at a competitive scale.
Iconic Design and Enhanced Durability
The Phone (4a) series evolves Nothing’s signature look while prioritizing structural integrity. The Phone (4a) Pro features the brand’s slimmest profile at 7.95 mm, encased in a precision-crafted metal unibody with IP65 water resistance. Meanwhile, the standard Phone (4a) focuses on individuality with a reinforced frame, IP64 protection, and new vibrant colorways like transparent blue and soft pink. Both models utilize premium materials, including Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, to ensure longevity without sacrificing their unique visual identity.
Masterful Photography and Long-Range Zoom
Photography receives a massive upgrade, particularly with the introduction of a 3.5x OIS periscope telephoto lens on both models. The Phone (4a) Pro leads the charge with a Sony LYT700c main sensor and a staggering 140x digital zoom, the longest ever on a Nothing device. Powered by the TrueLens Engine 4 and co-developed with Google, the camera system supports Ultra XDR and AI-driven tools like the Photo Eraser, delivering professional-grade clarity for both stills and 4K video.
The Evolution of the Glyph Interface
Nothing’s hallmark Glyph Interface becomes more functional and brighter. The Phone (4a) introduces the Glyph Bar, featuring 63 mini-LEDs for uniform, glare-free illumination. The Pro model ups the ante with a Glyph Matrix of 137 mini-LEDs, covering a larger surface area to provide detailed notifications and “Glyph Toys” like digital clocks and timers. This visual language is designed to keep users informed through light patterns, reducing the need for constant screen interaction.
Flagship Displays and Snapdragon Performance
Both devices boast high-end 1.5K AMOLED displays with peak brightness levels reaching up to 5000 nits on the Pro model. These screens support adaptive refresh rates (up to 144 Hz on the Pro) and high-frequency PWM dimming for eye comfort. Under the hood, the series utilizes the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (Pro) and 7s Gen 4 (Standard) platforms. These chipsets offer substantial leaps in AI processing and gaming performance, supported by efficient cooling systems and LPDDR5X memory.
Nothing OS 4.1 and Sustainability
Running on Nothing OS 4.1 (based on Android 16), the series introduces “Essential AI” tools like multi-app search and a personalized AI Dashboard. Nothing guarantees three years of Android updates and six years of security patches. Committed to the environment, the Phone (4a) series achieves Nothing’s lowest carbon footprint to date, utilizing extensive recycled materials and 100% renewable energy during final assembly.
Pricing and Availability
The Phone (4a) will be available in black, white, blue, and pink, while the Pro comes in black, silver, and pink. Specific pricing and availability for the Malaysian market will be revealed on 1 April , 2026.
