ZTE has launched the Axon 30s in China recently, a slightly upgraded version of the ZTE Axon 30. The most notable feature of this affordable smartphone is the under-display camera technology. At the moment, the company appears to be a forerunner of this technology and the only one actively betting on it.
In terms of specifications, the smartphone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and is accompanied by up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of Internal Storage. Even though it doesn’t have the newest chipset, the processor can run demanding applications and games without any concerns.
Display-wise, the Axon 30s sports a 6.92-inch 10-bit OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution at a 120Hz refresh rate. On top, there is a 16MP in-display camera and a UD fingerprint reader. The phone also houses a triple camera setup on the back, which consists of a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro snapper.
To power up the device, the Axon 30s is built in with a 4,200mAh battery and supports 55W fast charging, which is fortunately included in the box. The phone’s operating system is ZTE’s MyOS, which is based on Android 12. Therefore, it may be compatible with Android 13 in the future.
In terms of availability, the smartphone is currently available only in China, and there is no indication that it will be made available worldwide. The base ZTE Axon 30s with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage costs CNY 1,698, whereas the higher-end model with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage costs CNY 2,198. Both models are offered in Black and Blue color options.
