Rumours have been circulated that Samsung will upgrade to a 200MP camera sensor for the upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra. Now, a reliable tipster Ice Universe has recently provided some specific information regarding the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera sensor on his weibo account.
The rumour suggests that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a 200MP ISOCELL camera sensor with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size, along with a 0.6m pixels, and an F1.7 aperture. Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s primary camera has 108MP resolution, 0.8m pixels, and F1.8 aperture. This indicates that the 200MP camera sensor has smaller pixels, but the aperture is wider so that it can let in more light.
We are currently unable to determine whether a 200MP camera sensor will be a significant improvement over its previous generation in terms of image quality, as smaller pixels will almost certainly result in higher noise, particularly when recording video. In addition, the upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to have a design that is similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra but with a larger ultrasonic fingerprint reader, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and One UI 5 software running on top of Android 13.
